Mountain and Beach Elopement

Mountain and Beach Elopement

One of the best things about a Colorado elopement is that you can truly have it all! For April and Devon, this meant a mountain and beach elopement that started with an intimate first look and a hike in the snowy mountains, and ended with a sun-filled family celebration on the beach.

April and Devin’s vision was a Colorado elopement surrounded by towering mountains. The mountain theme was part of their relationship mantra and adventure elopement inspiration:

“Every day we climb a metaphorical mountain. There are always hurdles to overcome, and if you take down those hurdles together, you can get over anything.”

We started the day with a first look with their closest family overlooking Lake Turquoise. It was a special moment filled with emotions against the stunning mountain and lake background.

One of the things April and Devon wanted to do most was hike in their wedding attire. After the first look, we headed into the woods for a hike. We climbed the muddy, snow-filled trail together, laughing and having fun all the way there. April wore hiking boots with her wedding dress to tackle the trail, in a nod to their wedding hashtag: #TheSchuFits.

When we reached a clearing at the top, April and Devon, after months of planning and multiple changes, finally saw the spot where they would say their vows. They were thrilled at the beauty of the moment and the setting. Their original dream had become their wedding day reality. We had blue skies, warm weather, and flurries of snow in typical Colorado fashion.

From The Couple

BLOWN AWAY! Those are the words I feel best describe our wedding experience with Adam Amit. My (now) husband and I were looking at a place to get married in Colorado with the BEAUTIFUL landscape and weren’t entirely sure where to start. We live in Iowa and had never been to CO but have always been told the scenery is to die for. Somehow, after Googling a bunch of places, we happened upon Adam’s website. To say that Adam made the whole process a breeze would be an understatement! He helped us narrow down the perfect location – that best suited our wants – and didn’t even complain after I turned down a dozen different trails LOL. He always made us feel great about the parts of the elopement we couldn’t 100% plan (I mean, we’re talking mother nature here – she doesn’t always work with you!) And he really helped us put the day into perspective, which I was super grateful for the couple times I started getting myself stressed. The day of the wedding was SO MUCH FUN! And our pictures were PERFECT!!! Adam captured the day exactly how we want to remember it. HIGHLY recommend!

The privacy of this part of their wedding day allowed them to share vows to only each other. I love when couples include personal touches, and Devon did just that. He adding aspects of his firefighting profession (which is also how they met – April works for the fire department). There was a firefighting pin attached to April’s garter, which you could see when he lifted her up and as she twirled in her dress. Everything from her dress to the mountain scenery flowed beautifully in those moments.

After more time playing and dancing on the mountain, it was time to head back down for the second part of their day – a beach celebration with their closest friends and family. April had a blast jumping and stomping through the puddles. Unique experiences like this are one of the top reasons elopements are so awesome.

Beach Ceremony With Friends and Family

When we arrived at the beach, April and Devon’s friends and family were waiting. There, they had their official ceremony with all of their favorite people cheering them on. Their daughter also joined in the fun with an adorable denim “Flower Girl” jacket to match April’s “Bride” jacket. A friend officiated, and at the very end they filled bracelets with sand to remember a perfect day full of love, friends, family, and adventure.

Having Friends and Family at Your Elopement

Some couples can’t imagine their special day without their closest friends and family. Gone are the days when elopements were strictly a private affair. These days couples often include their family, friends, or even their furbabies!

The best part about a friends and family elopement is that you can pick and choose which parts of the day your guests will attend. Like April and Devon, you can have a private adventure and celebrate with guests after. Or you could include guests in a small ceremony first and then spend the rest of the day just the two of you. Whatever you choose, an experienced adventure elopement photographer can help you navigate all the details!
