Having a Garden of the Gods Wedding or Elopement is a superb choice. You get incredible red rock formations, stunning mountains in the backdrop, and all for free! That’s right, having a garden of the gods wedding or elopement can be free :). For a complete and thorough guide check out this comprehensive resource.

Aimee and Chris’s Elopement Story

Aimee and Chris met while living in Arizona through mutual friends, and their adventurous spirits carried them to live in multiple places around the U.S., before they at last found their new home together: Denver. Upon visiting for Aimee’s sister’s graduation, they fell in love with the area, and the rest is history. Chris now works in staffing in the cannabis industry and Aimee is earning her Masters in Cultural Anthropology—which is rad. (I told her that the host of one of my favorite podcasts, Armchair Expert, has used his Anthropology degree to explain away his so-called expert theories on human behavior. I highly recommend checking out the podcast!)

They had originally planned a Palm Springs micro-wedding with just their siblings but, like many couples across the country, had to rearrange their plans due to Covid. Luckily, these two have the absolute best attitudes and turned it all around into an amazing sunset elopement at Garden of the Gods. Neither of them had even been to the park before—but leave it to these two adventurous spirits to be up for anything.

It wasn’t just their adventurous spirit that caught my eye, it was the fact that they live intentionally. These absolute rock stars tied the knot on the day of their 10-year anniversary.

I distinctly remember meeting them in the parking lot and the moment that I saw them, I just knew this day would be something extra special. Not only did they look absolutely fab, but they were simply glowing with excitement.

Aimee and Chris were completely at ease with one another and so fun to photograph. The entire night was just full of emotion as they cried, laughed, and wiped away each other’s tears—and their love really shows in their photos. Aimee and Chris absolutely made my day—my week—for how willing and open they were to play. They climbed rocks and explored and cried and fully immersed themselves in their moment.

The whole point of what I do is for people to look at their photos now and in the future and feel the overwhelming love they felt that day.

At one point, I asked Chris to whisper into Aimee’s ear the answer to one of my favorite questions, “How did you know you were falling in love with each other?” As Chris told Aimee his answer, the raw emotion and willingness to be vulnerable was so powerful that he started to cry — a beautiful moment I was able to capture for them.

I absolutely love working with couples who are down to play in the space I create for them; to revel in their love and connection with one another. When I tell my couples, “I want to make art with you,” what I don’t mean is stiff posing or behaving a certain way that’s “right.” What I mean is that I want to have a hella good time with you, capturing you and your partner being fully in the moment together, being yourselves, and exploring your deep love for each other. We’re here to get you married, to celebrate, to have fun, to play, and to create lasting memories that’ll fill you up for the rest of your lives.

Chris and Aimee were exuberant, absolutely stunning people, inside and out. Working with them was an extraordinary experience—when I got back to my car after our time together, I was smiling from ear to ear! The experience they had was how I hope every couple feels on their wedding day. Authentic, raw, real. I’m so incredibly grateful to have shared this time with Chris and Aimee.
